Paula Benčaťová (1998) is a Slovak visual artist and designer based in Prague. She graduated from the Studio of Ceramics and Porcelain at AAAD in Prague, in 2024 and completed a one-year residency at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO) in 2021.
Her practice focuses on ceramics as a sculptural and process-based medium. She works primarily with thin-walled spatial objects through which she explores fragility and resilience, as well as the tension between balance and collapse, control and intuition. Her work engages with themes of balance, gravity, time, identity, and psychological processes, and often moves between sculpture, drawing, and textile as interconnected layers of process. This approach gives a sculptural essence to her creations, endowing each object with a distinctive character.
Her works are characterized by subtlety, disciplined form, and a distinct poetic quality. The project What Is the Colour of Our Presence? was a finalist of the international BKV Prize 2023 in Munich and is part of the Moravian Gallery collection in Brno. Her works are represented in private collections in the Czech Republic and abroad.
