The exhibition Pneuma Alchemy presents a dialogue between two artists – Paula Benčaťová (ceramics and porcelain) and David Krňanský (painting) – who, through their approach to material, form, and symbolism, explore the invisible processes of transformation.
Pneuma, understood as breath, spirit, or the essence of life, is intertwined in their work with alchemy – the magical process of transmutation, the exploration of the essence of matter, and its relationship to metaphysical structures. Pneuma Alchemy creates a space where art becomes a tool of transformation, both for the material itself and for the perception of the viewer.
This transformation reflects a broader question of the metamorphosis of identity in an age where the boundaries between stability and change, between reality and construction, are becoming increasingly blurred. The fusion of two distinct yet mutually resonant approaches opens questions about the nature of matter, identity, and the spiritual dimension of creation, pointing to the constant oscillation between the fixed and the mutable, between past and future.
